Katie Sullivan has made a decision to live again after two years of wallowing in the depths of despair following the unexpected death of her philandering state trooper husband. The first thing she decides to do in her quest to rebuild her life is to get away for a few months to the home of her ancestors, Ireland. An unlikely friendship forms between an elderly widower, Finbar Mulligan, and herself. Finbar and Katie help each other put the past behind them. Katie’s next challenge soon becomes Finbar’s son, Finn Mulligan. Finn is convinced that Katie is a gold digger after his father’s money. Katie is outraged at the accusation, but at the same time can’t deny the chemistry between herself and Finn. Reluctantly, the two get to know each other, and soon begin an affair with both thinking it’s harmless because Katie will be leaving Ireland in a matter of weeks. What they didn’t anticipate was falling in love with each other.
