Who is Author Lilac Mills?
I’m a wife and a mum, and as well as writing I also work part-time in an office (a job which I love, but it does cut into the writing time!). I’ve lived in loads of places around the UK, but I call the pretty city of Worcester my home, and that is the location for some of my books – or at least, it often gets a mention.
What’s your latest book all about?
It’s about having the courage to follow your dreams, to start over. Stevie’s dream is to own her own restaurant one day, and when she comes into some money, she realises that her dream of a Michelin star restaurant may be out of reach, but she can still own her own place, and be her own boss. It’s also about the power of friendship and community. And it’s about love. of course!
How did you get the idea of writing this book?
I often visit Hay on Wye (famous for its literary festival) and the surrounding areas, and a favourite place of mine is a small town (more of a village, really) nearby called Crickhowell. I love the feel of the town and the atmosphere, and the gorgeous little shops and cafes, and it got me thinking about how nice it would be to own one of these pretty little cafes, and so The Tanglewood Tea Shop was born.
