What’s this book “The Encyclopedia of American Animated Television Shows” all about?
This book is an encyclopedia covering the history of animated television series produced for television in North America, from 1948 to 2016. Each series is discussed in terms of its cast, crew, original production run, and impact on popular culture, as well as its artistic quality (or lack thereof). Some illustrations are included to provide a visual context.
How did you get the idea of writing this book?
I have been a fan of television animation since childhood, and my interest has continued as an adult. America ‘Toons In was written as a narrative history to fill the absence of objective historical studies available for television animation studies in both popular and academic contexts, and this encyclopedia is designed to complement that work by providing an easily accessible reference work on the topic. My hope is that both books will fuel further scholarly research into this topic.
