Who is Author Barbara M. Britton?
Barbara M. Britton is a former California girl who has made Wisconsin her home. She writes Christian fiction for teens and adults. Most of her published books bring little-known Bible stories to light.
What’s your latest book all about?
Barb stumbled upon a strange story at the end of the book of Judges that shocked her. The tribe of Benjamin was almost wiped out by the other tribes of Israel.
Only six hundred men remained, so they had to wifenap in order to continue their tribe.
In her book, Barb shows how Naomi bat Heriah, who was stolen by a Benjamin raider, ends up falling in love with the rugged shepherd who captured her.
This enemies-to-lovers story shows how the line of Benjamin survived.
How did you get the idea of writing this book?
Shock and awe. Naomi’s story from Judges 19-21 was new to me. I was reading the book of Judges and couldn’t believe I had missed this Benjamite wipe out.
I mentioned it to my son and he laughed. He doubted the story of men hiding in a vineyard to snatch wives was in the Bible. Well, he was wrong and my book was born.
